When will Madcap Motel reopen?

Due to ongoing COVID-19 developments, Madcap Motel cannot provide an exact reopening date at this time. The safety and well being of our guests, staff, and community are of the utmost importance and we will follow the guidance of state and local government to determine an appropriate opening date. We will reach out to you via email about reopening details.

I’ve bought tickets and would like to visit upon reopening. How do I reschedule?

Once we announce a reopening date, you will be able to login to Showclix (our ticketing site) and reschedule with a date and time that works best for you. A complimentary ticket will be added to your account for the inconvenience.  We will notify you through email when this option becomes available. Check your mail!

Are you offering Covid-19 refunds?

At this time we are not able to offer refunds but are providing the rescheduling services detailed above.  As a small business, we are dedicated to opening when it safe to do so according to local and federal guidance. We appreciate your support and sincerely apologize for any inconveniences.

What is Madcap Motel?

Madcap Motel is a premier entertainment venue in downtown LA. Our experience unfolds at Madcap Motel, a once abandoned, now fully restored, 1960’s motel. However, something strange has been happening inside the motel. Guests “check-into” our mysterious motel before arriving in an alternate dimension that we call: Elsewhere.

What can I expect when visiting?

During your stay you’ll explore hidden passageways, merge dimensions, gaze into the galaxy pool, roam the jungle atrium, discover the wonder of floating furniture, feed the hedge people, and stroll through the World’s first ever time warping wormhole. If you’ve been looking for magic in far away places, you may find that it's closer than you think.

Can we stay at the Madcap Motel?

We are not currently booking overnight reservations at this time; however, we can assure you that you’ll be granted access into Madcap Motel by presenting a valid ticket to our concierge. Check-in at the front desk and let them know you are looking for Elsewhere -- they’ll be happy to accommodate you.

What does Madcap mean?

As an adjective, “madcap” means amusingly eccentric, unconventional, or zany. However, it can also be used as a noun to label someone as an eccentric person, a madman, or a lunatic. At Madcap Motel, we consider ourselves all of the above.

Is Elsewhere at the Madcap Motel scary?

Not at all! Some describe it as amusingly odd but our motel is not frightening.

Is Madcap Motel appropriate for all ages?

Yes it is! This is not a frightening experience but visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We do ask that parents keep an eye on younger children to ensure the respect our motel and its magic deserves.

What do I need to check into the motel?

Other than your curiosity, we ask that you bring your digital ticket and a valid photo ID.

Where can I buy tickets?

Please purchase your tickets here. All tickets must be purchased in advance and online. Tickets purchased on unauthorized third party sites will not be honored.

Can I give my ticket to someone else?

Tickets are non-transferable. At least one photo ID in your party must match one of the purchased tickets. The rest of the names are interchangeable.

How much are tickets?

$40 adults (Ages 12+)
$30 children (ages 4-11)
Children 3 & under are FREE

Are there discounts for students or military?

We provide a 10% discount for students and military. Please email concierge@madcapmotel.com with your student or military ID and we’d be happy to provide the discount code.

Are tickets available at the door?

Tickets are only available online. Please purchase on our Showclix site.

Are tickets refundable or exchangeable?

Tickets are nonrefundable, but can be exchanged for a different date or time in special circumstances. Please contact support@showclix.com for assistance.

I didn’t enjoy my stay. How do I get a refund?

Although we do our best to ensure that all guests enjoy their stay at the Madcap Motel, we also know that we are an entertainment experience that some guests may not enjoy. Unfortunately, we cannot refund tickets due to a personal preference.

How do the timed tickets work?

You will be welcomed into our lobby within 15 minutes of your scheduled time so please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the time listed on your ticket. You will be checked into your room within 30 minutes of your timed ticket. 

Here’s an example.

  • If your ticket is for 2 pm 
  • Your reservation is for 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm 
  • Arrive at 1:45 pm
  • Arriving after the 2:00-2:30 window will result in further delay or denial of access.

I’m running late, can I still check in?

We understand that traffic can cause unexpected delays. Please make an effort to show up as close to your scheduled time as possible and we will do our best to accommodate. However, if you show up more than an hour late, you will not be guaranteed access to the motel.

Is the experience self-guided?

You will enter our motel in a small group. From there you can take your time exploring rooms, but please be mindful and considerate of other guests during your stay.

How long is the experience?

We’ve designed the experience to take up to an hour but your length of stay is in your control. Please note, we have a couple of timed experiences throughout your stay to ensure quality of various moments.

Can I take pictures or video?

For all commercial, product, or media shoots please contact press@madcapmotel.com for advanced approval and accompaniment by a Madcap Motel employee.

Personal photography and video is encouraged! However, photos and media taken inside Madcap Motel are permitted for personal use only. Tripods, external lighting or sound, excessive props, and wardrobe changes are strictly prohibited.

Can children enter the motel alone?

No, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There are no exceptions.

Can I bring a stroller?

Unfortunately, strollers are not permitted inside the motel. However, we provide stroller storage in our coat check area.

Is the motel pet friendly?

Unless you have a documented service animal, the motel does not offer any pet friendly accommodations. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Are outside food and drinks allowed?

Outside food and drinks are not allowed within the premises. However, water is allowed.

Are there bathrooms?

Yes. All guests have access to our restrooms upon check-in and again at check-out, but not throughout the motel. Please plan to alleviate yourself accordingly.

Is the motel ADA accessible?

Yes, we are ADA compliant. We have carefully designed the motel to ensure that everyone could enjoy our experience.

Is the motel friendly for light or audio sensitive visitors?

Madcap Motel uses many bright lights and sound effects throughout the experience. If you are sensitive to these elements, please use caution when visiting Madcap Motel. Email concierge@madcapmotel.com for more information and special arrangements.

Does Madcap Motel offer group rates?

We sure do. Large parties visiting during normal business hours may book their own tickets based on ticket availability. Purchases of 10 tickets or more automatically receive a 10% discount on the total order.

What if I lose something inside the motel?

Although Madcap Motel is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced items, we have a lost and found on the premises. If you notice a missing item, please check in with our concierge to return or make a claim. If you’ve already left the motel, please email concierge@madcapmotel.com and we’ll do our best to locate and store the item.

Can I host a group tour or private event at the motel?

At this time, private experiences during normal hours are not available. But, if you would like to rent the venue for a private event, Please contact us at concierge@madcapmotel.com

Is there parking at Madcap?

We have limited free parking at Madcap Motel, however, there are several lots all under $10 within a block or less of our motel. For convenience, we suggest using a rideshare service when visiting Madcap Motel.
